I AM THE MIDDLE CLASS!! I'm not a millionaire who is out of touch with the average person. I'm a down to Earth, hard working man. Who better to be the voice for the middle class in Washington than a member of it? Every election cycle we have these folks saying, "I'll fight for the middle class", but turn around and do the exact opposite of what they campaigned on. Funny how every time someone looks out for the middle class, it's us that ends up paying the price! That has to change!!
I'm a very simple guy who believes that honesty, integrity, character, hard work, and a person's word are still things to which one can live by. There's no need to over complicate life. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. Both of my grandfathers owned businesses, as well as both of my parents. A strong work ethic is in the fiber of who I am. Work hard and never give up! I have always been a strong believer in doing what you say you are going to do and putting 110% into everything. My grandpa used to say "if it ain't worth doing right, then it ain't worth doing". I try to apply that thought to whatever it is that I am doing. You only get out what you put in, and nothing is free.
Four years ago, we were blessed with an amazing son, Austin. The day he was born, I took a long hard look in the mirror. What kind of father would I be? Will I be able to instill the values that my parents instilled into me? What kind of world was I going to leave him? These questions kept me awake (as did he) through the nights. The first two were easy! I've always been great with kids, and instilling values will come by example. The last one, however, is a bit more difficult! Now, I've always been aware of what was going on in the country and the world. I was just like millions of Americans, I just sat back and complained about it! Yeah, I voted. But that's not enough!! I realized things aren't going to change until we make them change. The passion has always been there, but when Austin came along he became my driving force! I am determined to leave him a better world. The one I'm leaving him now just isn't going to cut it. He deserves better, as do the rest of the children in our great nation!
I've spent my entire professional career in business. I was a District Manager for CiCi's Pizza, a General Manager for Aaron's Sales and Lease, and have been a small business owner. What all that equates to, is I understand what it takes to be successful. Running restaurants and retail stores takes a lot of hard work and persistence. And owning a business even more so! I was extremely successful in each endeavor that I partook. Washington has enough lawyers! What we need is more business men and women. The US Government is a business, and should be treated as such. Any business owner will tell you, if they ran their business the way the government is run they'd be closed. I understand the importance of keeping a balanced budget.
The average cost to win a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2014 elections was $1 million. Our election process has pushed out the common person! Our delegates should not be there because they raised the most amount of money. They should be there because they are the right person for the job. We need people in office that are looking out for the best interest of their constituents, not their own!! I understand the everyday struggles people have. How can someone who has never had to deal with the issues the middle class has to, be the ones making the rules for them? We need a voice in Washington that is truly on our side. I am that voice! And as God as my witness, you have my word that as your Congressman, I'll NEVER stop fighting for you!!
